Finding its start originally as the culture subsection of genre fiction publisher NeoText Books, The NeoText Review aims to keep readers and fans of genre fiction, comic books, and film curious about the history, and even some of the forgotten corners, of media and how we got to where we are today. Through personal essays and an appreciation for all things art, we thoroughly believe that even the most dated, bizarre, and niche parts of pop culture are meant to last!
Sometimes that means talking about impotence in slasher flicks or how the comics industry reacted to the Holocaust, sometimes that means a comparison between Todd Macfarlane's 1990s Spier-Man run and David Lynch's Twin Peaks. And yeah, sometimes that means using comics as a vehicle to talk about colonization, wild two-part interviews with comic legends, or the code switching of British authors of the 1980s. The sky is the limit -- and even then, we probably have a cool take for it.
The NeoText Review (or simply "The Review") is spearheaded by Editor-In-Chief, Chloe Maveal (they/them), whose work has been featured all over the comics internet. Chloe has lived and breathed comics and pop culture since a young age and is excited to bring out those discussions on others as well.
